Widget-Editor: Avatar

Selection, creation and technical requirements of the chatbot avatar

The avatar is the visual representation of the AI chatbot within the widget. Since the interaction takes place in a conversational setting, a graphic face promotes acceptance and facilitates dialogue for users. From the user's point of view, it is much more pleasant and easier to engage in dialogue with a chatbot if it has a face – after all, no one likes to talk to a logo.

At the same time, a stylised representation serves to clarify the automated nature of the counterpart and to realistically manage the expectations of website visitors towards a non-real counterpart.

The widget editor can be accessed via the menu item Widget & Teaser → Widget Appearance.

There are two options for designing the avatar image: using the system's own template in the Moini design or using a custom-created character.

1. Moini design

The Moini design offers a template developed specifically for the widget, with proportions and positioning already optimally predefined. In addition to colour coordination with the corporate design, there is the option of integrating the company logo on the avatar's chest.

  1. In the Apperance section, click on the Create new avatar button.

  2. Then, set the colours of the avatar and the background.

  3. Optionally, add a logo by clicking on the Upload logo field.

    • Use the mouse to place the logo in the avatar preview as desired.

    • Use the slider to adjust the logo size.
  4. Click Insert Avatar to apply the settings.
  5. Then click Deploy to save the avatar in the widget editor.

It is recommended to use the Moini design, as this avatar has already been fully optimised for the widget's technical and visual requirements.

Advantages of the Moini design avatar at a glance

  • Specially developed for this widget and already optimally configured for it

  • Colours can be customised according to individual specifications

  • Logo on the chest available on request

2. Your own avatar

When using your own graphic, make sure that the face is clearly recognisable. Facial features should stand out clearly from the background and convey a friendly, attentive appearance. There are also general requirements for the image file and the background.

2.1 Image file / visible area

To ensure a clean display, your own image files must meet specific requirements.

Feature Requirement
Image format JPG or PNG
Minimum dimensions 64 x 64 pixels
Maximum dimensions 512 x 512 pixels
Visible area Square source file that is masked in a circle in the widget

2.2 Background

The background of the avatar must not be completely white (#FFFFFF), black (#000000) or dark grey (#222222). As these colours are used for borders in various places in the widget, the avatar will not stand out visually if these colours are used.

If no suitable avatar is available, the Moini design can be used at any time to minimise the design effort.
